The Effect of AAC Display Types on Message Production and Its Relationship with Reading Ability in Patients with Cognitive-Communication Disorders

Objectives: To provide empirical evidence that can be applied in medical settings, this study aimed to examine the effects of AAC display types on message production ability patients with cognitive-communication disorders who are hospitalized and correlation patients’ reading abilities.Methods: Twenty cerebral vascular accidents were diagnosed participated study. Message abilities examined by measuring accuracy scores response times under three conditions: (1) text-based visual scene (VSD), (2) mixed type (text graphic symbol-based) VSD, (3) symbol-based GRID.Results: The GRID showed significantly high short time compared VSD. There was no significant difference between VSD terms time. In addition, correlations task found.Conclusion: This do not enhance communication efficacy more than settings. It is at odds a previous claims effectiveness without considering ability. These results suggest rather perceiving itself effective other types, it important individual symbols so impaired understand meaning each message.
